Many people hear of the fiery furnace from Daniel 3 and think, “Oh, that’s a cute kids story.” However today is truly for those of us who’ve grappled with some stark reality.
We will read words spoken that encapsulate all of us who choose faith in Yahweh, the Lord God: What happens when God delivers us in the way that we hope? But also—what happens when he does not?
DONATIONS FOR HURRICANE HELENE RELIEF:
While disasters happen all too frequently, the Echo staff experienced this storm up close and personally. So some friends have asked us if we know trusted organizations that are offering help to those who have lost their homes in Hurricane Helene. Here is a short list that Echo friends have compiled, but there are so many people out there doing good work:
Unicoi Christian Church (this church is close by hard-hit areas and is using their space as a donation center; a friend of our friends is the pastor there; in the dropdown menu of the “To” field, choose Disaster Relief)
Mercy Chefs (provides professionally prepared, restaurant-quality meals to victims, volunteers, and first responders in natural disasters and emergencies; friends of an Echo friend started this ministry)
Friends of Santa Claus (an organization supporting children experiencing cancer—and the majority of their families were just hit by the storm; one of the co-presidents is a former Echo Church member)
