Who Do We Need to Be?

 

Good Morning, Echo Church!

Hopefully it is not pouring rain and driving us back to fully-online gathering this morning! But, if so, we welcome back with open arms those of us who have been meeting in back yards recently. 

July is going to be a little bit different. As a staff, we sense a specific call to prayer, reflection, conversation, and maybe some dreaming. We aim to draw Echo into that in this season. Week-to-week topics and format may vary, but want to take a pause from our New Normal series through Daniel to really focus in on who we are as a church, and as followers of Jesus. Let’s seek what God has for us to be learning, growing into, and doing in this season. We need to find what our new normal will be — what it should be — and that demands prayerful and intentional consideration. 

Join us this month as we seek. 

Today, we will begin with a bit of a sermonette from Kelly that will guide our first steps in contemplation and conversation — whether that’s in a back yard, online together, or on your own.

  1. What part of history have you had to reevaluate lately? (could be our country’s history, maybe it’s the history of the church, or your own family history)

  2. What thoughts and feelings has it brought up that you’ve wrestled with?

  3. Will this cause you to take any action?

  1. How does Jesus’ response differ from cancel culture?

  2. How did He balance accountability with forgiveness and a fresh start?

Let’s come together as Echo—as a family of believers—and confess that we sin.

Let’s ask God for the strength to do better and to forgive others.

Let’s ask Him to reveal our blind spots so that we as a church can glorify His name and honor His desires for us and what we need to be for our community.
