Do the Work | James 3
Good morning, friends!
Thanks for being in a back yard or online here with us! If you’re around at the 11 hour, join the Hamilton backyard on Zoom. We have a seat reserved for you at the table and I have figured out how to use zoom to appropriately share the sermon video!
Aside from that, let’s get straight to hearing the Word and doing the work! Our special guest this week should look pretty familiar — to the point that we just let him preach the whole sermon.

REFLECTION
1. Have you ever been caught saying the wrong words in front of the wrong people? (Maybe it was bad language someone overheard or you talked about a person and they later found out. Or you posted a social media rant that you later regretted.)
• Share your story—if you will.
2: James used metaphors to show how small parts shift large entities.
• How can one wrong word shift someone’s entire reputation or impact another person’s life?
• What practical steps can you take to prevent yourself from saying harmful words in person or online, to either loved ones or strangers?
3. Why is it important to remember that even people who anger us are made in God’s image? How can we respond in truth while honoring their humanity?
• Who has spoken to you words of life?
PRAYER
God, we say to You as Your church that we desire to honor everyone made in Your image. Please forgive us for the times when we haven’t lived that out. Spirit, guide us so that we may be offering words of life.
